AT&T Works with EPA on Greenhouse Gas

AT&T has announced that it will become a part of the movement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. AT&T released a statement to the press that they would welcome the chance work with the EPA and stakeholders to develop new and innovative approaches to reducing greenhouse emissions.
As a communications giant, AT&T is in the position to change the way people look at limiting greenhouse gases and at the same time expand their economic growth. AT&T’s communications and broadband infrastructure are able to be important components of both economic growth and environmentally conscious businesses.
AT&T has developed ways for both their customers and themselves as a company to continue to grow and be economically prosperous while at the same time being aware of greenhouse emissions.
AT&T’s Role
AT&T is set to play a large role in how other’s reduce greenhouse gas emissions through their innovative technological advances including:
- Reducing the need for travel for businesses through telecommuting and teleconferencing;
- Centralizing data management, and other IT specifics for their customers;
- Reducing or eliminating paper and material waste through online billing, online customer service and more;
- Combining and making dispatched services more efficient through software and GPS systems;
To reduce their own companies role in the emission of greenhouse gases as their need for energy expands, AT&T as come up with their own set of efforts, including:
- Using alternative fuel vehicles which lower the cost of operation and reduce green house gas emissions;
- Investing in wind and solar power alternatives – one AT&T facility in Austin, Texas receives 30% of its power from the wind;
- Using energy-saving software on over 300,000 desktop computers across their domestic operations;
- Making their office buildings more energy efficient.
AT&T’s attention to the environmental concerns over greenhouse gas emissions shows that they are not only interested in being the leader in telecommunications but that they are also concerned with keeping the environment safe.
Without healthy, clean air to breath there won’t be a need for telecommunications and AT&T is working with the EPA towards eliminating those greenhouse gas emissions.
