Virgin Mobile Goes Social

Virgin Mobile continues to up the ante in the mobile social networking games with the introduction of “Connect” and “Mobile Lounge” – two new features that offer the latest in technology for Virgin Mobile customers. These new mobile social networking features are available at no cost other than the normal Internet charges.

“Connect”, powered by Helio is the first social networking applications to allow access to features of certain social networking sites. While Mobile Lounge is an entire community built just for Virgin Mobile users. Both are available via the VirginXL store.

Helio is a pioneer in the mobile social networking industry. These two new applications available to Virgin Mobile customers show that they are continuing in their quest to stay on top of the game with new and better features to keep customers connected with friends and family with every form of communication tools available.

Features

These new mobile social networking applications will keep Virgin Mobile customers in the know with friends and family through their favorite communities without tethering them to a computer to do so.

Connect will give customers a platform and tools to access their MySpace, FaceBook, YouTube, Flicker and other sites from their mobile phones. Now they will be able to update their profiles, check invitations and requests, read messages and more all while on the go.

Additionally, clients won’t have to log out of one site to go to another one. They can now collectively combine status updates, upload pictures, send messages and more all in one location and all free of charge to Virgin Mobile Customers.

Connect is currently available on the Ocean, Mysto, Fin, Heat and Drift, all Helio devices. The program will launch to Virgin Mobile prepaid customers in early 2009.

The Mobile Lounge is the industry’s first mobile-only social community to provide a place for members of the Virgin Mobile community to communicate. They can share their thoughts and ideas using the new micro –blog, use discussion boards and chat rooms and enter contests.

Members of the Mobile Lounge community will also be able to earn rewards. Members can accumulate points for writing blogs, winning contests, uploading photos and more. They can redeem points for wireless usage, much like the Sugar Mama program where points are accumulated for watching ads.
